My Hometown

David and I went to St. George this weekend and took a little road trip to Enterprise, so I thought that I would share with some of you how and where I grew up.

This is the first Enterprise house that I lived in. I was very disappointed to see that the new owners have not kept it up at all, however I have great memories in this home(To be fair I havent seen this house since 2005). Sheldon shooting himself with a blank and a hammer, magnets in the gutter, our swimming pool that was at one time a horse trough, shucking more corn than one family can eat ever, sprinting up to Grandma's house barefooted and having to come home crying with bloody toes from a broken driveway, pulling the big stinky yellow flowers that once grew in the front yard, sledding down the roof onto the trampoline onto the ground at the neighbors house, and building forts in the wash behind our house. Now that I think of it I should have taken more pictures.

My family moved into this house in 1994. When we lived here you could see more than tree but I loved this house!!! I actually lived here before that with Grandma Judd, when she past away my family joined me.

Oh, and it is across the street from the first house. I spent a lot of time in the garage or the shop; I loved building things, to bad I really am not good at it. My bedroom window was right under the purple tree.
We would play cards as a family all time, Grunt was a family favorite.

You may have guessed that this is the street that I was raised on. I had a great childhood and while I would have never said this when I was growing up, I had great parents. I was lucky!!!

Same street, Grandma Schmutz's house. Every Sunday the cousins would come and we would play basketball, kickball, or whatever. We also had a garden in her backyard. Whenever we filled a tag during deer season Grandma had the perfect area for cleaning it up.

This is Carter's formerly known as Clove's formerly know as Terry's and the only grocery store in town; they built on to it when I was in high school and almost doubled the size of it.

Three streets to the south lived my Great Grandma LeFever in this house. Of course it had a grandma smell and little grandma things but it was a great place to be. However her dog was possessed and the most evil of chihuahuas until we got older and then she was just fine. Grandma would always get senior citizen meals and share them with the grand kids. I can't be sure but I think that she liked milk just as much as me because I remember lots of the little cartons in her fridge.

This is my grandpa Barlow's house. This was my safe haven after grandma Judd passed away. Unfortunately my parents where the enemy (I'm glad I got over that). My grandma saved my butt many times and got me busted a few times also. Example: I took my dads truck when I was 15 to find my sister that I was convinced was dead on the side of the road in the snow. Luckily I didn't get very far and when I got the truck stuck I was close enough that she and Stephanie came and hauled me home. The other example was when I was small my uncle Derek had mice downstairs; I knew that grandma was scared of them but that hardly stopped me from taking it up to show her. She was so mad at me that dad found out about that one.

This is the Enterprise Stake center, three churches actually sit on this property the first second and third LDS church built in this sleepy town the first is now property of the DUP and is just a small room. The second is the Heritage Hall. We had many dances and dance lessons in that building, also both of my older sister's wedding receptions where held there. The baptistery in the heritage hall was made from volcanic rock and sat four feet lower than the floor. I'm not going to lie, that baptistery gave me nightmares!!!! Of course the last one is the stake center; I was baptised there, I did primary and young womens there, we watched church softball, and had many church dances. It was a gathering place for the 4th of July the 24th of July, the Corn fest, and so many other fun things.

This is the only thing still standing of my Elementary school.

This is where it once was. It needed to go in a bad way!!!!

This is my high school; they built on to it when I was in school and I was surprised to find them at it again. There are many stories that I could tell but will refrain because of the length that this post already is.

This is our 2 room seminary building. Mini compared to the ones on the Wasatch front.

This is the Enterprise Dam. The Dam flooded a few years ago and washed out the road; it was a crazy mess. I suppose that they are still working on it because the water level is so low right now.

You can't very well tell but the level was supper low. I remember jumping into the reservoir and being able to climb back onto the wall (not a typical year). I think that it was about thirty feet lower than the top of the wall.

last but not least on my Enterprise tour we have hairy mans cave. I have know idea why it was called that, or of how it came to be. I have heard the story that it was dug for irrigation, however that doesn't make sense to me as it is a little hike up the mountain and is only a hundred yards long. whatever the reason now it's main visitors have eight legs.

I hope that this hasn't been unbearable; it was kind of nice to reminisce.

Great job! It's fun to see all the pictures and see how things have changed and are still changing. Some of those things you said I didn't even know. In some ways it makes me want to go back and reminisce, but you know me, it'll probably never happen! =)

Your first house actually looks pretty good compared to the last times I was there. It was this bright green and really scary looking. It looks the most normal I have seen it in a long time. Did you guys go through that tunnel? I think I've only been through it once or twice. It gives me the eebie geebies!! I'm surprised they are building more on to the high school. Last I heard they weren't even using all they had because the number of students had dropped so much. Who knows!

I am with Stephanie-I thought your first house was looking pretty good from what it was.
The addition on the high school is a new gym.
And that tunnel.....I have never been through that thing, and not sure it will ever happen! :)
Pretty good story about the hole in the floor! Thanks for sharing!:)
